We promise to this program’s further and continue be an innovator for the industry with the transition from Rishel Angus to TD Angus at Rishel Ranch.
The TD Angus at Rishel Ranch breeding program focuses on propagating traits that have the greatest economic value to the seedstock industry and to commercial cow-calf producers:
- Calving ease and birth vigor
- Docility
- Fertility/heifer pregnancy
- Fleshing ability
- Maternal (milk, udder quality, mothering ability)
- Growth
- Carcass value
To be a part of the herd, a TD Angus female must be structurally sound with sound feet and legs and have power – tremendous depth of rib, chest floor, volume and capacity, coupled with a long rump and a powerful hip. Her teat and udder structure is of utmost importance, with small teats making it easier for a newborn calf to suckle. TD Angus demands a reasonable balance between a good disposition around humans and a desire to care for and protect a newborn calf. TD Angus females are designed to be trouble-free females that work for you instead of you working for them.
Powerfully made females will be the mothers of powerful herd bulls that are packed with red meat and have a masculine front, big testicles, tremendous depth of rib and superb capacity. These herd bulls have the genetic power to sire feminine, productive daughters and masculine male offspring that make customers glad they use TD Angus at Rishel Ranch genetics.
TD Angus at Rishel Ranch culls continuously, with keep/cull decisions based on stringent criteria. Bull and heifer calves that don’t meet their standards are sent to the feedyard. First-calf heifers and mama cows that don’t perform as demanded are culled and sent to market. Average-producing cows that still milk well are moved to the recipient herd for the ET program.
Angus heifers, cows and/or embryos are sold private treaty. Please contact TD Angus for information on the current sale offering.
